Effective August 12, 2026. This policy applies to the Tally Crate application and official marketing website.
The short version
Tally Crate does not require a conventional account. We do not sell personal data, operate an advertising network or use product-behavior analytics or advertising pixels. Your working inventory is stored locally by your browser.
Information stored by the application
Your move profile, rooms, container records, item lists, notes, photos, status history and preferences are stored in browser storage on the device where you use Tally Crate. Version 1.0 does not automatically send this information to a Tally Crate account or cloud synchronization service.
Backups and exports
Backups are created only when you choose to export them. You decide where the file is saved, which device restores it and who receives it. Reports, label sheets and photos likewise leave the application only through an action you initiate.
View-only sharing
Optional read-only snapshots are encoded in the fragment portion of the shared link, which is designed not to be sent to the website server during a normal request. Anyone who receives the complete link may be able to read the included snapshot. Treat it like a private document and share it only with people you trust. A snapshot recipient cannot edit the owner’s working inventory.
Local storage and deletion
Local storage supports privacy and offline use, but clearing browser data, losing a device or reaching storage limits may remove local information. Export and verify regular backups. You can remove application data using Tally Crate’s controls or your browser’s site-data controls.
Purchases and entitlement restoration
When purchasing is available, checkout is handled by a third-party payment provider. A purchase requires a receipt email so lifetime access can be restored on another device. Tally Crate stores only the minimum record needed to verify that access: a one-way hash of the normalized purchase email, payment-provider customer, order and license references, a one-way hash of the license key, entitlement status, and purchase or revocation timestamps. We do not store the plain purchase email, full card details or the plain license key in the Tally Crate entitlement database. The payment provider processes checkout details, the purchase email, receipts, taxes, refunds and payment disputes under its own privacy terms.
What purchase restoration does not upload
Restoring a purchase unlocks the application; it does not restore your move. Moves, containers, items, photos, notes, QR information and backup contents remain local and are not sent to the entitlement service. Move data transfers only when you export and restore a backup yourself.
Website hosting
Our hosting providers may process routine technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested page and security logs to deliver, maintain and protect the website. We do not currently use analytics to profile how people use the application or marketing site.
Support and third-party services
Email sent to support@tallycrate.com is processed by the email providers used to deliver and respond to it. Tally Crate does not automatically attach or upload diagnostics, inventory, photos, backups, or other app data when you contact support. Do not include passwords, backup files, addresses, QR snapshot links or sensitive household details.
Sale of personal data
Tally Crate does not sell personal data. We do not share local inventory for targeted advertising.
Children
Tally Crate is a general household organization tool and is not directed to children under 13.
Your choices
You control whether to create an inventory, add photos, export a backup or report, share a snapshot, restore data or delete local information. Because there is no Version 1.0 account database, we generally cannot recover inventory that exists only in a browser you can no longer access.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated. A future cloud or analytics feature would require a clear product change and corresponding policy update; local inventory will not silently become cloud data.
